I'm Melony...

I have 14 years experience working within the UK insurance industry where I led a small team of designers, I was responsible for designing B2B and B2C ecommerce ‘quote and buy’ datacapture journeys. As well as designing and building in-house CRM toolset application.

In 1999 I graduated from University of Portsmouth with a degree in Communication Design. I have a passionate enthusiasm for continuous learning and keeping up-to-date with current design trends. I’m a current member of the Interaction Design Foundation where I have recently completed courses in human-centred design thinking and Agile Methods for UX Design.

During a career break to start a family, I have designed and built marketing websites and branding for small business’. I am also a Modern Calligrapher, I have a successful Etsy store – calligraphybyMD selling bespoke prints and I undertake commissions.

Process

I follow the Design Thinking process, my sketchbook is my go-to for problem solving and working through initial concepts that may later be developed into hi-fidelity mock-ups. 

These pages show my thought process when breaking down a design into on-screen semantic HTML elements. 

Also included are sketchbook visuals for logo designs, showing initial concept sketches developed through to the final logo design.
